Formed in Kochi in 2019, Urumi brings rock and folk together in a multilingual live set. Shikha Prabhakaran and Faisal Razi lead a six-piece band whose music moves between Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Arabic and Urdu — from college festivals and clubs to corporate events and private celebrations across India and abroad.
Two voices at the centre
Shikha Prabhakaran and Faisal Razi co-founded Urumi in 2019. Both bring experience in playback singing and live performance, joined by Kiran Raj on guitar, Arjun Mohan PC on bass, Sanjai Arakkal on keyboards and Nithin Joseph on percussion.
The result brings rock, folk and familiar songs into the same set. From a campus crowd to a private gathering, language is part of how the band connects with the room.
